The new hospital is placed in Baghdad, the capital of the Republic of Iraq and the largest city in the country. In particular the plot is in the northest part of the city between the rivers Tigris and Diyala. The design has been made considering by efficiency strategies and sustainability of the building, with a flexible layout which allows an easy future adaption and with the possibility of expansion both on the ground floor and on the first floor.
The Hospital building has three floors. Next to it is located the staff residence, with five floors. The ground floor, with a comb shape, interlaces with landscaped courtyards that allow natural ventilation and lighting. The main entrance is under a major double-height lobby in front of a gardened courtyard. The auditorium, cafes, tearooms and shops have been located in this level.
